REQUIRED LISTENING: a musician's personal notes about favorite artists.
The Very Best of Bobby Womack (1968-1975).
One of the GREATEST soul composer/guitarist/vocalist, Bobby Womack is a soul man who knows how to tell a story. This compilation
represents some of the BEST of early 70s soul and contains many of his best songs: "Across 110th Street," "If You
Want My Love, Put Something Down On It," "I Don't Wanna Be Hurt By Ya Love Again," "I Can Understand It,"
and "If You Don't Want My Love Give Iit Back." In those years, great songs were coming to him left and right -- Womack
drew upon personal pain and turned it into great art. The kind of art that surpasses genre boundaries. His association with the
Rolling Stones and Wilson Pickett are proof of the respect Rock's elite have for him. And he's still doing it today. I'd like to
pay my respect to someone I think is one of the most versatile soul artists ...ever.
