REQUIRED LISTENING: a musician's personal notes about favorite artists.

GREGG ALLMAN
One More Try: an anthology.
This is a hard one to find but well worth the search! Gregg Allman has one of those voices that can cut right to the heart of the matter and this has never been more evident than in the songs in this collection. Many are unreleased demos (warts and all). The rawness of these recordings provide a map to the passion within the man.

"Multi Colored Lady," "Queen of Hearts," and "Bring It On Back" show a side of Gregg that Allman Brother fans rarely get to see while his love of soul music is VERY evident in Clarence Carter's "Slip Away," and Bobby "Blue" Bland's "Turn on Your Love Light." It's hard to put into words the feeling that I get when listening to the songs in this anthology. All I can say is that THE elusive elements of what I aspire to BE...reside within what I hear in Gregg Allman's voice: the vulnerability, the honesty. I would have to number his voice as one of my favorites. You go Gregg!
