I've recently seen a LOT of top guitarist lists. This made me think: who would MY top 100 guitarists be? This was TOUGH, because there are a LOT of ways to be a GREAT guitarist. To weigh those different ways against each other, ... Needless to say, I did the BEST I could. It's not always about guitar chops. More than anything, it is about INTENT. Soulfulness, expressiveness, making the song better (sometimes at the expense of one's chops) ...all of these things went into the decision. And all of these guitar players have impacted my life. Each player has an individual style and sound. The guitarists at the upper reaches of the chart can put a chill down my spine. BTW: if someone on my list is higher than you think they should be.... I urge you to dig deep into their catalog. Without further ado... here are my top 100 guitar players (plus 13 honorable mentions).
